Compost Winnipeg is a social enterprise launched in 2016, born out of the Green Action Centre's commitment to reduce waste and advocate for climate action. Recognizing that 40% of Winnipeg's waste is organic and can be composted, we began providing local residents and businesses with a reliable organic waste collection service.
Starting as a small operation with a single e-bike and trailer, we have grown to an eight-truck fleet, helping to divert 120 tonnes of organic waste each month. This not only prevents harmful greenhouse gas emissions but also contributes to the Green Action Centre's educational initiatives. At Compost Winnipeg, we aim to promote awareness about waste reduction throughout the community and support the city's environmental goals.
